Search Engine Optimization often seems daunting, particularly if you're dipping your toes into it for the first time. The multitude of terms and technicalities can quickly become overwhelming, making many feel confused and ready to give up before they even start.

Thankfully, SEOSpace’s all-encompassing plugin simplifies the Squarespace SEO process, making boosting your website's visibility easier and faster.

The plugin is actually a Chrome extension that provides actionable insights into your Squarespace SEO, valuable tools, and educational resources to optimize your website effortlessly.

Previous Resources and Insights

I've previously discussed SEOSpace in other articles and videos. If you're new to the world of SEO, my "SEO Made Simple" YouTube series might be a great starting point for you. The associated blog posts are also at the bottom of this article.

In this post, however, I’m focusing on a remarkable new feature: Keyword Research.

SEOSPace Keyword Research & Competitor Analysis Feature

The newest major upgrade to the Squarespace SEO plugin introduces keyword research and competitor analysis, allowing users to perform these tasks directly within SEOSpace. You can test drive the plugin with a free trial.

Accessing the Keyword Research tools

One thing SEOSPace does exceptionally well is providing easily understood explanations of what everything means and offering more resources to help you learn before you even begin using the tools.

SEOSpace Keyword Research Tool data point explanations on dashboard

SEOSpace plugin provides understandable explanations of each data point available in the tool.

The keyword research tool is user-friendly and provides vital insights into keyword performance, including:

  • Search Volume – Indicates how often a keyword is searched for per month.

  • Cost Per Click (CPC) – Helpful to see keywords others are paying for ads to be found for.

  • Keyword Difficulty (KD) – Shows how hard it is to rank for a particular keyword.

  • Search Intent– Helps you understand what users are looking for when they search for a keyword. Are they looking for information (informational, navigation), or to make a purchase (commercial, transactional)?

Below is an example of a basic search using the keyword ‘brand photography’ in the United States.

Competitor Analysis Feature

In addition to keyword research, SEO Space offers a comprehensive competitor analysis feature. By entering a competitor’s URL, you can gain insights into their SEO standing, including:

  • Domain Authority – A measure of a website’s reputation in the eyes of search engines.

  • Backlinks – Quantity of external links pointing to the competitor’s site.

  • Organic Traffic – Estimated number of visitors coming through Google.

  • Total Keywords – The keywords your competitors are ranking for.

It also allows you to filter the results to see whether or not you are ranking for those keywords.

This is helpful in two ways:

  1. You can see where you rank in comparison to your competitors for those keywords and plan your strategy around that, or

  2. You can see what keywords they rank for that you do not and plan to create content to compete.

Understanding your competitors' strategies allows you to identify opportunities for improvement and areas where you can outperform them.

Additionally, SEOSpace’s competitor analysis tool lets you input your website’s URL to see a detailed breakdown of your own website. This includes your organic traffic, ranking keywords, and domain authority, helping you prioritize the most impactful keywords.

Using the Keyword Explorer Feature

Here’s a step-by-step guide to using the keyword explorer:

1. Enter a Keyword – Start by typing a keyword related to your niche.

2. Analyze Results—Review the search volume, CPC, keyword difficulty, and search intent for your keyword. This information helps you gauge its competitiveness and relevance.

3. Filter Options—Use filters to narrow down results based on search volume, keyword difficulty, your ranking position, and search intent. This feature lets you focus on the most promising keywords for your strategy.

4. View Related Keywords – SEOSpace also provides related keywords, which can expand your SEO efforts by targeting additional related terms your audience is searching for.

5. Export Data—You can Export your keyword research results to a CSV file and save it to your preferred keyword tracking system.

Maximize Your Squarespace SEO Keyword Research Efforts

With a focus on usability and education, SEOSpace’s keyword research and competitor analysis tools allow users to have one place to go for their Squarespace SEO needs. Simple explanations and a straightforward interface remove the confusion and mystery, making SEO tasks manageable for anyone.
