The Importance of Form Blocks and The Termageddon Cookie Consent Tool

One of the crucial factors for any website is the ability to capture and process user data effectively. Squarespace form blocks provide an easy way to create contact forms, collect information, and engage with your audience. On the other hand, Termageddon's cookie consent tool ensures compliance with essential legal policies. Both these tools play a significant role in enhancing the user experience and protecting your business.

The Issue: Forms Not Showing up on Live Pages

Recently, I encountered an issue where my Squarespace forms were not showing up on live pages, although they appeared to work fine in the editor. After some investigation, I discovered that the problem only occurred when I had enabled Google reCaptcha on my form. Google reCAPTCHA provides an extra layer of security by preventing spam and bot submissions on your forms, and I recommend enabling this on all your forms.

Identifying the Solution: Google reCAPTCHA Settings

Upon reaching out to the excellent support teams of both Squarespace and Termageddon, I realized that the issue stemmed from having Google reCAPTCHA listed as “Functional” (which is the default setting) under the General > Categories settings in the Termageddon Cookie Consent Tool and not as “Essential.”

Fixing the Issue: Adjusting Service Category Settings in Termageddon

To ensure your Squarespace forms render correctly on live pages, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Access your Termageddon account and go to the "Cookie Policy and Consent Tool" section.

Step 2: Under the "Edit Policy Details" option, click through to the area where set up your services and run a scan.

Step 3: Locate the Google reCAPTCHA and Google reCAPTCHA version 3 services. If not already added, you can manually add them.

Step 4: Click on each reCAPTCHA service and navigate to the general settings section on the right-hand side of your screen.

Step 5: Set the category to "essential" for both reCAPTCHAs.

Step 6: Submit the changes. You should receive a message that your policy has been updated and that there is no need to update the code for your policy on your site.

Step 7: Return to Squarespace and toggle on the reCAPTCHA option in the form block in the ‘storage’ settings.

Step 8: Your forms should now render correctly on your live pages.

By following these steps, you'll ensure that your forms work seamlessly and offer protection against unwanted spam submissions.

Conclusion

I must give a special shoutout to the amazing customer support teams at Squarespace and Termageddon, who promptly helped me identify and resolve the problem. Their dedication to providing exceptional service is commendable.

So if you ever find your Squarespace forms aren't showing up on live pages and you are using the Termageddon Cookie Consent tool, remember that you can resolve this issue in just a few minutes by configuring the general category setting to ‘essential’ for Google reCAPTCHA within Termageddon.
